Thrilling SSP Final

The inaugural State Senior Pennant was played at the picturesque Cypress Lakes last Sunday. The Course was in superb condition, our thanks go to Craig, the Cypress Lakes Superintendent.

Tee off was mid morning with all 8 matches tight, see-sawing till mid afternoon with Muree securing matches 8, 7, 6 early and looking like winners only to see Toronto come home with a “wet sail” to close out matches 5,4,3,2 with Toronto Captain, Brett Porter 2 up playing the 17th settling for a square. Toronto took the final 4.5 to 3.5 in a thrilling final.

Huge congratulations to Toronto and Muree for the spirit in which the final was played. Old friendships were rekindled and new ones forged.

Special thanks for the SSP final support go to Cypress Lakes CEO Shaun O’Brien, Cypress Lakes Pro Scott Cubis and Michael Fantuz who organised a fantastic dinner after play, Also Match day rules official Greg Gillard and Starter Paul Campbell. Big thanks to the galley of spectators who turned out, a couple of notables - Greg Wyper from Kurri Kurri and Max Pride, Nelson Bay Captain.

Looking forward to 2023, details coming out soon.

Cheers,

Captain - Michael Campbell

Vice Captain - Alan Payne
